Kitsap Sun, KITSAP, WA. - A 30-year-old South Kitsap man is accused of setting fire to his house Sunday, with witnesses telling investigators the man said he wanted to kill everyone and earlier that day said, “I’m just going to set it on fire.” South Kitsap Fire and Rescue firefighters responded at about 6 p.m. to the fire on the 6700 block of SE Mile Hill Drive, where residents told them they suspected the 30-year-old of setting the fire, according to court documents. Kitsap County sheriff's deputies interviewed witnesses and roommates, who said the man had made the suspicious statements and believed the fire had engulfed the man’s room. Fire investigators told deputies they found the presence of “accelerants,” possibly gasoline or kerosene. In an interview, the man denied setting the fire but did say he started a fire in the fireplace and on the garage floor. On Monday he was charged in Kitsap County Superior Court with first-degree arson.
