KOMO NEWS, SEATTLE, WA - Two fires were set intentionally set Sunday in the University District that caused thousands of dollars in damages. Four restaurants were impacted and several apartment units. “It’s scary to see this happen,” said Don Blakeney, executive director of U-District Partnership, which is the neighborhood’s business improvement district. The first fire was set just after 8 a.m. on the outside of a three-story building on the University Ave in the U-District. “There was damage inside of the structure and the exterior and the estimated damage is $150,000,” said Seattle Fire Department spokesperson Kristin Tinsley. The building is home to several restaurants like Noodle Nation that sustained smoke damage, along with two stories of apartments just above.

Then just 15 minutes later a fire was set inside a nearby trash bin that damaged another building. Now investigators are trying to determine if the fires are connected.
