WSRB, WA  The majority of wildfires ignite due to human activity, according to research that looked at 20 years of data on the causes of U.S. wildfires. Another analysis done on a decade’s worth of Washington state wildfires found that almost three-quarters were caused by humans.  Arson is one of the common sources of human-caused wildfires. In fact, arson caused 26 wildfires that burned in Washington state in 2019, according to the state Department of Natural Resources (DNR). In Oregon, multiple recent wildfires were started, at least in part, by arson. Visit the WSRB Blog for more on this story.
