KOMO TV ABC 4 AND RADIO 1000 - A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in an arson that damaged a Port Orchard middle school early Wednesday morning.

A burglary alarm went off at Marcus Whitman Middle School just before 5 a.m., according to officials with South Kitsap Fire. When police arrived, they found signs of a forced entry into the building and a fire burning inside.

Firefighters arrived and doused the flames, but not before the blaze did substantial damage inside, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office.

Detectives tracked down the 15-year-old Port Orchard boy as their suspect and he has since been booked into juvenile detention for investigation of arson and burglary, deputies said. He's being interviewed to see if there are any accomplices in the case.

Multiple law enforcement, fire agencies and ATF agents are on the scene.
